With 20 years of practice in the field, Dr. Salmieri is a highly experienced doctor, board certified in Ob/Gyn. He has won a number of awards, including Patients’ Choice Award 2011 and Compassionate Doctor Recognition 2011. Dr. Salmieri is a graduate of Des Moines University and completed a fellowship for advanced pelvic surgery at The Cleveland Clinic. He then completed his Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship with SEGO and Northside Hospital. Prior to coming to Georgia in 2000, he was Assistant Professor of Ob/Gyn at The State University of New York, Stony Brook, while also in private practice. After 13 years of practicing in the Atlanta area, he has joined with Northside Hospital known as the “Cancer Institute”, and is a partner at Georgia Gynecologic Oncology.
As a Gynecologic Oncologist, Dr. Salmieri is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of pre-cancerous conditions and carcinoma of the uterus, ovaries, cervix, vagina, vulva, and other gynecologic diseases which includes: bladder prolapse, severe endometriosis, and fibroids. A Gynecologic Oncologist is fully trained as an Ob/Gyn and continues their education with additional pelvic surgery training and full training in oncology. Dr. Salmieri is the first physician in Gwinnett and Forsyth County to perform the da Vinci robotic surgery; he also trains and proctors local physicians and fellowship training. He is currently operating at Northside Forsyth and Gwinnett Medical Center.
